Babies, Development, Transformation

MACA began its partnership with a Haitian team in 2016, conducting a study of over 900 children from rural communities to assess their nutritional status. Together with local communities, we explored the importance of regularly monitoring child growth. We provided training, scales, and other equipment, while community members built their own height boards and enlisted parents and local volunteers to carry out the measurements. Additionally, we trained birth attendants and collected data on maternal and neonatal mortality. Here are the results from the past nine years:

Moderate Acute Malnutrition7.66.86.2
Global Acute Malnutrition11.79.68

As we deepened our understanding of how to approach the first 1,000 days in oral cultures, we recognized that the Guarani communities in Argentina could greatly benefit from this method. Today, Guarani women in the village we support have taken the lead in monitoring their children’s growth, administering deworming treatments, and providing multivitamins when necessary. Access to safe, pathogen-free drinking water, along with holistic training that addresses emotional, spiritual, physical, and environmental well-being, is crucial for lasting impact. Your donation helps transform the lives of these young children.
